Steve & Tapestry, 2001.

Tapestry
November 2001
In my time I have been called many things

I have been very fortunate in this life; I have experienced many great friendships and loves. But nothing I had previously experienced prepared me for the power and majesty that Tapestry brought to my existence. What we have is beyond love, beyond friendship, beyond family. I realize that it is a term that gets greatly overused, but Tapestry and I re soul mates. From the first moment we found each other everything seemed to just click into focus. Many of our friends have asked me "How can you not feel mad or cheated, you were just starting out afresh together?" And my answer to that is simple. If they ever get to experience the sheer joy that Tapestry and I had together, even for just one day, they would realize that I can feel nothing but humility, pride, and gratitude for what we had, and still have.

his greatest gift was not only that he helped them, but that he inspired them to help themselves.

Never in my life have I met someone whose willingness to help others had no limits, and his greatest gift was not only that he helped them, but that he inspired them to help themselves. As over the top as this may sound, Tapestry gave me hope for the human race. Because if one man can have that much love, empathy, and respect for every single person he meets, then surely all of us have that capacity inside of us. Most people spend their whole lives dreaming and searching for what myself and Tapestry had together and although it may have only been two years in linear time, in my heart and soul it was a lifetime worth of love.
